Hello!
Trying to catch up on my travelogues, gonna start with my last trip to Europe.
Last Summer, we traveled to London, Paris, Barcelona and Germany. We had tickets to watch U2 360 concert in Gelsenkirchen (Germany) and this is why we went to Europe. MH is a U2 fanatic and he does not want to miss another amazing U2 concert!
We landed in London and stayed at my elder sister's flat for a few days before heading out to Bonn, Germany to visit my younger sister.
The day of the concert, we left later than planned and that was a big mistake. We encountered heavy traffic on the highway. As we get closer to Gelsenkirchen turn-off, there was a looooooong queue of vehicles, concert goers we assumed. It was almost 8:00pm, and we were still on the highway! MH drove straight, past all those vehicles in queue, hoping there will be a gap so we can squeeze in. And just before the turn-off, we found a big gap and hurray, we were able to squeeze thru! Thanks to all the nice people who waved us thru =)
Another problem was parking. Gelsenkirchen is not that big and cars were parked a couple of blocks from the arena. Because MH didn't want me to walk that far, he tried to find a spot close to the arena. And we got lucky again! No more spots on the side walk, but then police let us park on the island! As soon as we swerved to the middle, all the cars behind us followed and in less than a minute, the island was full of parked cars!
Luckily, the side entrance of the arena was only a block away from where we parked, so we ran inside like everyone else. Luckily, the front act (Snow Patrol) was still onstage, we had enough time to grab drinks and some merchandise.
Few minutes after settling in our seats, the lights started to dim. Everyone started screaming, the concert was obviously about to start! I feel bad for those who were still stuck in traffic, they're gonna miss some parts of the show. I hope they got lucky like we did in the end.
The show was great! I really love going to live concerts, it's like everyone knows each other. People chat with each other, lost in translation, but who cares? We're all enjoying the show and the company of everyone around us. MH had a blast, sang and danced like no one's watching hahaha!
I hope there's another concert next year, coz we'll definitely be there!
